Is there anyway to know if someone is not receving IMs on yahoo mobile?

Is there anyway for me to know if my friend is not receving the IM messages I am sending him via his phone. He is mobile on yahoo, and I have been sending him IMs but he has not responded. Is there anyway for me to know if he has not received them? I hope my question does not seem silly...
