Is "Affirmative Action" a good thing?

I see it as a way for the unqualified get where they don't belong. Where I work they were forced to hire a totally unqualified worker to be in charge of the small "Fire Department" we have here in my factory, this guy couldn't read or write above the 5th grade level. Don't give me that "It don't matter how smart you are to fight fires", this guy was so stupid he had the Fire extinguisher upside down during one of his mandatory "Safety" meetings, he shook it and said "Should bee's something bees coming outs of here". A woman that worked in the office said "I think you have to take out the safety pin first" He was dumbfounded and stormed off..........................I didn't mention race, but you thought that.
