Will the world end in 2012 ?

So we have been told that the callanders of some people end on 2012 ...is this going to happen or did they just think we have run out of dates ? or was it cos they couldnt be arsed to go any further??? looking around the world at the moment there seem to be terrible things happenoing flood quakes etc what do you think are we nearing the end ????
